フランスのシンガーソングライター、Pomme（ポム）は、音楽を通じて自身の感情、記憶、そして自然との関係を繊細に紡ぎ出してきた。本展は、彼女が日本各地を旅しながら滞在制作した視覚的記録の軌跡をたどるものであり、音楽に先立つ詩的な感覚の断片が、写真という静謐なかたちで結晶化している。

本プロジェクトは、『千と千尋の神隠し』をはじめとするアニメーション作品から着想を得た楽曲制作を契機に始まった。作曲の過程でPommeは、ドローイングや写真を交えた「創作ノート」を綴っており、それらは音と言葉が立ち上がる以前の感情や風景との対話を記録するものでもある。本展に展示される写真作品は、その創作ノートの延長として、京都・ヴィラ九条山でのアーティスト・イン・レジデンス滞在、日本各地、そして屋久島での滞在を通じて撮影された。

屋久島では、その独特の湿度や光、島の時間の流れと静けさが、Pommeのまなざしに新たな感覚の揺らぎをもたらした。展示作品には、構図や色彩だけでは捉えきれない、感情の余白や記憶の気配が漂っている。歌詞や旋律となる以前の、まだ名前を持たない感覚たち——それらが、視覚という形式の中にそっと封じ込められている。

本展は、Pommeにとって写真による初の本格的な個展となる。彼女の音楽的感性が、旅と土地を通じて別の言語へと翻訳されたこの作品群は、聴くことと見ること、歌うことと感じることのあいだに広がる、豊かな詩的空間を静かに開いてくれるだろう。

French singer-songwriter Pomme is known for crafting poetic and introspective music that gently explores themes of emotion, memory, and the human relationship with nature. This exhibition traces a new dimension of her creative practice—one rooted in travel, observation, and the quiet, visual documentation of her inner world through photography.

The project began as a companion to her songwriting, inspired in part, particularly Spirited Away. As she developed songs influenced by these cinematic landscapes, Pomme created what she calls “creative notebooks”—lyrical journals composed of drawings, handwritten thoughts, and photographs. These notebooks served as intuitive maps guiding her toward sound, but also toward the inexpressible spaces between image, memory, and emotion.

The photographs in this exhibition were captured during her residency at Villa Kujoyama in Kyoto, as well as throughout her travels across Japan—including her stay on Yakushima Island. While in Yakushima, the island’s humidity, light, and timeless slowness offered a unique sensory environment, adding new tonal layers to her already intimate perspective. Each image, while simple in appearance, contains subtle gestures—emotional echoes that emerge in the spaces between shadow and stillness.

Although Pomme is best known for her musical voice, this marks her first full-scale solo exhibition in the realm of photography. The works on view here exist in the moments before a melody is formed, before a lyric is born. They dwell in that fragile pause where sensation lingers, just before becoming sound.

Pomme Exhibition offers a rare glimpse into the wellspring of her creativity. Through photography, she invites the viewer to experience the world as she perceives it: not as fixed or resolved, but as a sequence of emotional fragments—unspoken, delicate, and resonant. These images do not simply accompany her music; they are music, held in stillness.

In this body of work, to see is to listen. To stand before these photographs is to enter a shared space of attention, where the visual becomes lyrical, and silence reveals its own rhythm.

l'automne, 秋, the fall

本作は、2024年の秋、日本で撮影されたイメージのコレクションです。使用したのは期限切れのフィルムと、祖母が使っていた素朴なカメラでした。京都のヴィラ九条山でのレジデンス滞在中、私の目には新しく映る日本の風景を捉えようと試みました。それは同時に、子どもの頃から宮崎駿の映画（『千と千尋の神隠し』『崖の上のポニョ』『天空の城ラピュタ』『もののけ姫』）に育まれ、私の想像の中にずっと存在してきた、どこか懐かしくも親しい風景でもありました。

このレジデンスは、私にとって普段とは異なる創作のかたちを実験する機会でした。音楽や作曲は私にとって日常であり欠かせないものですが、この旅の中で私は、水彩、墨、そして写真といった新たな表現の道を探る必要を感じていました。

思い返せば、私は常に「空白」と向き合うことが苦手でした。遅延、沈黙、休息を受け入れることが難しかったのです。しかし日本で、私はその空白を馴致し、ついにはその中へと飛び込みました。風景とその神秘に抱かれ、空白は私を呑み込みました。

その「落下」の果てに、人はどこに降り立つのでしょうか。
子どもの頃の夢の中で、落下し、恐怖や痛みをくぐり抜けたあと、私はいつも野生の苔の絨毯の上に静かに横たえられているのです。

l’automne, 秋, the fall est une collection d’images photographiées au cours de l’automne 2024 au japon, au moyen de pellicules périmées et de l’appareil photo rudimentaire de ma grand mère. dans le cadre d’une résidence à la villa kujoyama de kyoto, j’ai tenté de capturer les paysages japonais nouveaux à mes yeux, et pourtant familiers et présents dans mon imaginaire depuis l’enfance, bercée par les films de hayao miyazaki (le voyage de chihiro, ponyo sur la falaise, le château dans le ciel, princesse mononoke). 

la résidence était pour moi l’occasion d’expérimenter des formes de création inhabituelles: la musique et l’écriture de chansons sont routinières et essentielles pour moi et ont guidé mon chemin durant le voyage. mais j’avais besoin d’explorer de nouvelles avenues avec l’aquarelle, l’encre de chine, et la photographie.

d’aussi loin que je m’en souvienne, j’ai toujours trouvé difficile de faire face au vide. d’accepter la latence, le silence, le repos. au japon, j’ai apprivoisé ce vide, j’ai sauté dedans. absorbée par les paysages et par leurs mystères, le vide m’a engloutie.
