YPF PHOTO AWARDは、「未来の写真表現を切り拓く才能に光を当てる」ことを目指し創設された国際 公募のフォトアワードです。主催する屋久島国際写真祭（YPF）は、自然と人の共生をテーマに掲げながら、新たな視点と感性を世界へと発信する文化的プラットフォームとして活動を続けています。 

本展では、最優秀賞１名と入賞者４名が選出され、屋久島・安房地区の如竹通りにてシリーズ作品を展示します。展示されるのは、応募者が提出した未発表の写真シリーズであり、通りに面した公共空間に展開されることで、写真と日常が静かに交差する場を生み出します。観光客や島民、通行者が思いがけず出会う写真たちは、風景の一部となりながら、見ることの意味を改めて問いかけてくるのです。 

受賞者には、屋久島での滞在制作、YPFギャラリーとして国内外におけるフォトイベントでの展示活動の際に展示参加、さらには国際的なキュレーターやフォトフェスティバル関係者とのネットワーキングの 機会など、多層的な創作支援が提供されます。これにより、本賞は単なる受賞の場にとどまらず、未来の表現者たちの継続的な成長と実践を後押しする構造を備えています。審査は、視覚言語の革新性、物語性、そして技術と表現の独自性を重視し、ジャンルや経歴を問わず、意欲あるすべての写真家に門戸を開いています。写真の多様な語り口と感覚の深度に触れることで、観者は“写真の未来”そのものと出会う機会を得るでしょう。

The YPF PHOTO AWARD is an international open-call photography prize established with the aim of shining a spotlight on talents who will pioneer the future of photographic expression. Organized by the Yakushima Photography Festival (YPF), the award is part of a cultural platform that champions the theme of harmony between nature and humanity, while continuing to share new perspectives and sensibilities with the world.

This exhibition will feature one Grand Prize winner and four additional award recipients, each presenting a photographic series along Jochiku Street in the Anbo district of Yakushima. The works, all previously unpublished, will be displayed in public spaces along the street, creating quiet moments where photography intersects with daily life. Encountered unexpectedly by tourists, locals, and passersby, these images become part of the surrounding landscape, prompting viewers to reconsider the very act of seeing.

Awardees will receive multifaceted creative support, including an artist residency in Yakushima, opportunities to participate in exhibitions at domestic and international photo events through the YPF Gallery network, and chances to connect with internationally active curators and photography festival organizers. As such, the prize is not merely a moment of recognition but a sustained framework to foster the growth and practice of emerging voices in photography.

The jury places particular emphasis on the innovation of visual language, narrative strength, and the uniqueness of technical and artistic expression. Open to photographers of all backgrounds and genres, the award invites anyone with ambition and vision.
